Closure.
It’s something you have to find inside yourself first. And then, you have to ask the question:  what do I want from the other person?  Acceptance?  Forgiveness?  And then, you have to come to terms with the fact that they will probably never say what you (think you) need them to say. Which brings you back to the beggining:  finding absolution within yourself first. I want to learn how to...

What is next.
Fun fact:  It is impossible for me to let people go. Ex-boyfriends, lost friends, anyone I’ve had a connection with or shared a meaningful moment.  Even if they were once jerks (ex-boyfriends), I can give them the benefit of the doubt and see the big picture:  there was something there once.  We gave it a shot.  Oil and water.  We parted ways, which hurt, but now…I want to be able to...

Yard Sale
I’ve always wanted to have my very own yard sale.  It’s a thrifty sandwich made of my favorite ingredients:  purging and pretending I have my own store. Well, today is the day I had my own sale.  I even made signs and taped them on various lamp posts and stop signs in the hood.  Zoe finally got her wish of having her own lemonade and cookie stand and has so far made a mint.  I’m...

This is a long one.
It’s easy to get lost in nonsense. It’s all around me. I can hear its buzz from the fluorescent lights, can see its glare from the screen. It’s easy to get lost in the rabbit hole of online spying- although it’s not really spying since all of our information, photos, feelings, friends and connections are out in the open for the world to see. I know more about this stranger in Utah than I know...

The Free Life- part 1
Last night I did something that is really going to help me on my No Spending journey.  I made a meal and activity menu for the next two weeks.  Gosh, I love making lists.  I’ll find any excuse for it, and this was fun. I started by taking a good look at the food we have in the house and making sure to use up produce and stuff in the fridge first, saving pantry stuff for the end of the two weeks. ...

Waste Not, Want Not: Two weeks of no spending
Ah summertime.  Sticky sundresses and flip flopped feet, lazily sunbathing on a hot quilt reading trashy magazines and mustering just enough energy to lift a bottle of something bubbly and alcoholic to the lips. I’ve found that Summer is such an easy time of year to let go:  of routines, clothing and the always boring budget.  It’s a time of year for spending and excuses.  Spending...
